Technology is the application of scientific knowledge, tools, techniques, and processes to solve problems, achieve practical goals, and manipulate the human environment. It encompasses both tangible items (machinery, computers) and intangible methods (software, systems) used to improve lives and enhance capabilities. 


KAMM’s 22nd annual conference highlights mitigation-relevant research, data collection and implementation, and use of both tangible and intangible technology across the various agencies, organizations, academic studies, and professional disciplines working to build more hazard-resilient communities.


CFMs earn CECs pre-approved by ASFPM. KY-APA members can receive CM credits.


Judge/Executives, Magistrates, County Commissioners, County Clerks, Jailers, and Sheriffs participating in the HB810 Training Incentive Program for elected officials can also earn 12 training hours pre-approved by DLG.

Conference Scholarships


KAMM provides 8 registration scholarships (2 per region) for first-time public sector OR student conference attendees. Scholarship recipients must cover their lodging expenses. To inquire about a scholarship, please email us at kentuckymitigation@gmail.com.

2026 KAMM Conference Keynote Speaker


KAMM is excited to have Chad Berginnis, CFM, the Executive Director of ASFPM

as our 2026 conference keynote speaker!

 

Chad Berginnis has served as executive director of ASFPM since July 2012. As executive director, he collaborates frequently with FEMA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and other federal agencies across multiple administrations to advocate for effective policies and programs related to mitigating flood risk, strengthening community resilience, and protecting our water resources.

 

Berginnis has also testified before U.S. House and Senate Committees and Subcommittees on a number of topics, including FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, the Water Resources Development Act of 2020, and on disaster Response and recovery issues.

 

Berginnis served on FEMA's National Advisory Council from 2022-2025 where he provided valuable perspective on how we, as a nation, can best mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover in the face of growing climate threats. NAC advises the FEMA administrator on all aspects of emergency management, including preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation for disasters and national emergencies.
