High Water Mark Training:  An Initiative to Record Flood Elevations on a Local Level

8:30 a.m – 4:30 p.m. 

Presented by USGS – Tom Ruby; Field Data by KDOW – Annemarie Cason

Training Limited to first 30 registered attendees.  The morning session is classroom style.  Wear comfortable clothes that fit the forecast as the afternoon session will be held outdoors.

Who should attend?  Individuals working with flooding and / or Floodplain & Stormwater Management, Emergency Management Officials, County Surveyors, Floodplain Administrators, MS4 Coordinators, Highway Engineers, Highway Superintendents, Private Consultants, and Watershed Coordinators.

What to Expect When You’re Constructing: KDOW Regulatory Workshop

8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Presented by KDOW – Alex VanPelt and Stephanie Hayes

The focus of the workshop includes an overview of KDOW’s Floodplain and Water Quality Certification programs.  When constructing or working in a stream, wetland, or floodplain, certain federal and state permits are required.  During this workshop, learn about floodplain permits, 401 water quality certifications, and US Army Corps 404 dredge and fill permits.  

Who should attend?  The workshop is perfect for new floodplain coordinators and local officials.

Centralized Elevation Certificate Review and the CRS

1:15 – 4:15 p.m.

Presented by ISO – Christina Groves, Kentucky’s CRS Program Manager

This workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss what is required of Community Rating System (CRS) participating communities on the new digital EC review process to begin in January 2018.  Communities participating in the CRS are subject to higher standards of review and regulation in order to receive discounts on flood insurance premiums paid into the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Who Should Attend?  All CRS Coordinators, local government staff involved in the review and acceptance of Finished Construction ECs, surveyors, other local government staff including: Building Officials, Permitting Supervisors and Clerks, Plans Examiners, and Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs).

NWS SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training

1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Join us for the first SKYWARN® storm spotter class sponsored by KAMM!  SKYWARN® storm spotters are part of the ranks of citizens who form the Nation’s first line of defense against severe weather.  There can be no finer reward than to know that your efforts could provide the precious gift of time–seconds and minutes that can help save lives.

Who Should Attend?  NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service and access to communication.  Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens.  Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are also encouraged to become a spotter.

KAMM Bicycle Ride

4:30 – 6:00 p.m. 

Back by Popular Demand!  We brought it back for the second year.  Join us in front of the conference center at 4:30 to begin the fun, leisurely trek.

Early KAMM Conference Registration Opens

3:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Register at the Conference Center to get a Nametag and Lanyard and your KAMM goodies.  Also, sign up for the annual Cornhole Tournament.  Nominate a Regional Representative for two Regions; Region III and Region IV.  Link to KAMM’s four regions.  


Exhibits Grand Opening and KAMM Welcome Fest

6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Join KAMM members at the Exhibit’s Grand Opening to meet our sponsors and feast on heavy hors d’oeuvres.  Get to know your mitigation buddies with an icebreaker.  All sponsored by GPD.
