Waterfront Revitalization Project Walking Tour                                                          Noon – 2:00 pm
Coordinator:
Joe Sullivan

Join us for a local walking field trip to learn more about the Owensboro Riverfront Revitalization project, led by Joe Schepers, Executive Director of the Regional Water Resource Agency in Owensboro. More than a decade in the making, the riverfront is now a public recreational amenity with walkable promenade, playground, outdoor children’s museum, marina facilities, streetscape improvements, and pocket parks. The design is unified through detailed elements such as a fountain plaza that pays homage, in pattern, to the rooster tail of a hydroplane boat. Focal points and a series of outdoor event spaces connect to the existing street grid for an inviting public realm. Meet in the Convention Center lobby at 11:45 pm; tour is approximately 2 hours.

2024 KAMM MITIGATION AWARDS

KAMM will recognize a Mitigation Manager of the Year and a Mitigation Project of the Year.  Has your community implemented a successful mitigation project?  Is there an exemplary leader who is promoting resiliency through mitigation?  Have you observed partnerships or collaborations that strengthened mitigation in your community?  Nominate them!  These efforts deserve recognition, and KAMM wants to share the success stories that might otherwise go unacknowledged.

The nominee may be a successful strategy, project, program, or individual who has made a positive impact within a community or an agency working to promote the benefits of hazard mitigation.

Submit nominations to KAMM by August 9, 2024.
Award winners will be announced at the conference.

KAMM’s Community Mitigation Grant Fundraising

As a non-profit, KAMM offers funds for projects that promote hazard mitigation through our annual community mitigation grant fundraising.  Monies from our fundraising go toward a community hazard mitigation project.  Our grants are based upon how much we raise in the previous year.

The Awards & Grants Committee is hosting a Silent Auction & Raffle fundraiser for the Community Mitigation Grant Fund at the conference. If you would like to donate an item, please send a description of the donation to mario.sebastiani@aecom.com.

Presented by Ludo Roche
Resilient Energy & Infrastructure

REI will present the trailered version of the Rapid Deployment Hybrid MicroGrid for Nat Cat Emergency Response that houses the inverter, batteries and the balance of the system which provides energy.

The trailer has a Lift-Off/Lift-On box which allows easy deployment and stow away for the Solar PV arrays, called ExoSolar units.
