Announcing KAMM’s 2021 Community Mitigation Grant Opportunity

KAMM Grant Opportunity is Open!

KAMM is happy to announce for the second year, we are accepting applications for the KAMM 2021 Community Mitigation Grant Program.  KAMM promotes natural hazard mitigation and disaster recovery as well as public awareness of floodplain, stormwater, and emergency management.

The KAMM Grant Program offers local communities an opportunity for assistance with a mitigation project.  The program allocates funds for projects that promote hazard mitigation and management or mitigation awareness in your community.

Any project that promotes the Purpose of KAMM is acceptable.  Below is a list of project examples.  What are your community mitigation actions?  Please be creative!

  • Flood Hazard Mitigation:
    • Upgrade undersized drainage systems
    • Stream / river cleanups
    • Flood barriers
  • Stormwater Management Mitigation:
    • Detention basins
    • Stream or wetland restoration
    • Green infrastructure practices
  • Conservation of Natural Features and Resources:
    • Reforestation projects
    • Parks or open green space
  • Educational Awareness:
    • Field trips/public outreach
    • Signage to promote mitigation
    • Community mitigation library
    • Flood warning systems
  • Local match funding for a larger mitigation grant

Community Grant Funding

Proceeds from the Community Grant fundraisers at our annual KAMM conference will be used to fund our annual grant.

Available grant funds range from $500 to $4,000.

Our Community Fundraiser and Silent Auction was a big success at the 2020 Conference!  We hope to build on that momentum in 2021!

  • estimated project costs
  • schedule 

Mitigation projects that support community involvement and engagement will receive priority.

 


 

Application Timeline

The deadline to submit is March 31, 2021.  We will let you know if your application is accepted for the grant proposal by April 16, 2021.

You may upload supporting documents if you would like. Additional documentation is not required for the application.
