KAMM’s Preconference Day

September 16, 2019

Preconference Day – Workshops, Activities & Welcome Fest

We have scheduled various free activities for you to do on our preconference day.  Workshops are offered in the morning and afternoon as well a dam tour and fun activities.  Our partners from the NWS, USGS, FEMA, USACE, and KDOW are providing workshops and their expertise in numerous venues.  We have a jammed-packed day of events kicking off our 15th Anniversary!

Conference Agenda

Our agenda this year is full of great sessions, education opportunities and the time to network.  We currently have over 47 sessions on the agenda.

Keynote:   FEMA Region IV panel  – Understanding the Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA) and the Impact on Hazard Mitigation Assistance.  For more information on the Disaster Recovery Reform Act of 2018, link to FEMA’s DRRA webpage and to an explanation of BRIC.

Our Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening socials include:

  • Welcome Fest – Grand Opening and Exhibits
  • Alonzo Pennington’s 9-piece band will rock us out at the Beach! We also will have fun with Yard and Beach Games.  Check out Alonzo, link to https://www.facebook.com/alonzopenningtonmusic/
  • Steve Noe at the Grill for the 15th year AND the annual Cornhole Tournament.

CEC/PDHs will be available attendees and CFMs, GISPs, PEs and AICPs.

Conference Registration Open!

Preconference Day is Free!  September 16.

Conference Fees:  September 17 – 19,  Annual Conference 

The conference registration fee is for September 17 – 19 (Tuesday AM – Thursday lunch) and will include continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, breaks, conference materials, and the KAMM evening networking events.

  • $175 for Members
  • $200 non-member

Conference Special:  Membership is based on a calendar year.  If you are not a member and want to pay for membership ($25) and conference fees ($175) together, then select Conference Special to pay for both ($200).

One-Day Registration;  You can register for a day ($75 members, $85 non-member).

Preonference Only: We welcome you to attend our free Preconference Activities.  Please Register with the Pay by Check method.

Group Payments:  Pay by Check is an easy way to pay for a Group.  If you would like to pay for a Group by Credit Card, please let us know and we will make arrangements with you.

We have reserved various types of lodging (lodge rooms, suites, and cabins).  Link to Lodging  for information.  Group rate ends August 30.

KAMM Board Elections

KAMM Board positions are for two-years (2019 conference – 2021 conference).  KAMM Board Positions include the five executive roles:

  • Chair
  • Vice-Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • At-Large

Ballots will be distributed at registration.

Regional Representatives – 2 Positions Open

Two Regional Representative positions are open for a two-year term in Regions II and IV.

KAMM members may serve as a Regional Representative and are nominated during KAMM Regional Meetings.

Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Exam

September 16, Monday, 1:00 – 4:00 pm

The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) has established a national program for professional certification of floodplain managers.  The program recognizes continuing education and professional development that enhance the knowledge and performance of local, state, federal and private sector floodplain managers.  The ASFPM CFM Program is directed toward individuals from widely varying occupations, interests, and educational backgrounds who have routine floodplain management duties.  This includes representatives from the following groups: community/state/federal officials, the private sector, academia, interest groups, and private citizens.
